JEWELRY CONSIGNMENT INFORMATION

We are excited to have the opportunity to represent and sell your jewelry items! Here is a short list of important information regarding the jewelry consignment process.

CONSIGNMENT COMMISSION:

You, the consignor, will receive 60% of the selling price of your item(s). Checks are mailed out the 8th day of the month following the month that your item sells. So, if a ring sells for $100 in January, a check will be mailed to you on February 8th in the amount of $60.00.

CONTRACT PERIOD

The contract period for jewelry consignment items is more flexible than the home furnishing items contracts. You are not required to pick up your jewelry at the end of the four month period unless the jewelry staff feels that it has not been receiving much response while on consignment. Please call us at the end of your contract period to discuss whether or not we recommend leaving your items with us for a longer amount of time.

CONDITION OF JEWELRY ITEMS

In order for Precious Gems & Jewelry to be able to represent the jewelry consignment items, the jewelry must be in good condition. If any of the jewelry items need repair work or refurbishing in order to be consigned, we will quote an estimate of work needed, which can be completed by our on-site jeweler and must be paid in full by the consignor before the jewelry is displayed in our showcases.

PRICE REDUCTIONS

The jewelry consignment items do not reduce in price periodically as do the home furnishing items. However, if a customer makes an offer of a lower price on one of your jewelry items, we may call you to see if you are willing to accept the lower offer.

LAYAWAY PROGRAM

The jewelry department offers a layaway option to customers for jewelry items. The customer must put down a minimum of 30% as a deposit. The customer then has 45 days to pay the balance. If the balance is not paid within the 45 day time period, then the deposit is forfeited and the consignor is paid 60% of the deposit. The jewelry item is then returned to the showcase at its original price for another opportunity to sell. We will assign the item a new inventory number and mail that information to the consignor.

PICKING UP YOUR ITEMS

CALL US BEFORE COMING IN TO PICK UP! Our direct line is 910-815-3455. The jewelry department needs 24 hours notice before picking up your jewelry consignment items. The process can be time consuming and the advance notice will allow us to locate your items and organize the paperwork necessary to help you check out your items from your contract quickly and easily. This allows us to continue serving our shopping customers so we can sell all the beautiful consigned jewelry that has been left in our care!

APPRAISAL SERVICE

If your item hasn’t had luck selling on consignment with us (shame on us!) and you’re considering selling the jewelry item yourself, let us provide you with an official appraisal document. The fee is reduced from $75 per item to $45 per item if your jewelry has been on consignment with us. Appraisals are important tools in selling jewelry on your own outside of a reputable store! Just give us a call a few days before you plan on picking up your item(s) and we’ll have the documents ready with your jewelry when you come to pick up.

CUSTOM DESIGN

Perhaps your item hasn’t sold and you’re not sure what to do with it. Let our creative staff designers come up with a new look for that ring or pendant. We can turn it into something ‘new’ that you will actually wear and enjoy!
